Gary Mittendorf is an inspiring 72-year-old man. He is a decorated Vietnam Marine Veteran with a Bronze Star Medal and a Navy Commendation Medal with Combat Valor and can tell many stories of bravery and anguish related to his days in the marines. He was admitted to Arbors at Delaware after being in and out of hospitals and skilled rehab centers since February of this year due to multiple medical problems including colon cancer (diagnosed in March), hemicolectomy, CHF and 6 different surgeries that were a part of the hospitalizations.
Gary gives kudos to the therapy staff, however, this is what they have to say about him: “Whether listening to his stories about his wife or having him tell you about the 19-year-old marine he watched die in his arms, you will be absolutely intrigued with anything this amazing man has to say. After all the heartache and tough experiences Gary has endured, he has overcome his sadness and proudly displays an attitude of positivity, excellent humor, and inspiring kindness.”
